NICK: It’s been a while since we’ve been able to tease multiple events in one Monday NewsLink, but we’re doing it this week. The 5th annual Wings 4 Water charity event cook-off is slated to take place on Thursday, Sept. 8 at the Harris Park Community Center. Event founder Chris Turney stopped by the studio last week for a Lee’s Summit Town Hall conversation about the event and the people it serves. Listen in on your favorite podcast app or go to for the full interview.

LIESL: All three Lee's Summit R-7 School District high school athletic programs are recipients of national awards given to only 6 high schools nationwide. Lee's Summit, Lee's Summit North and Lee's Summit West high schools have been awarded the 2021 Quality Program Award at the Exemplary Level from the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. They are the first Missouri schools to receive this honor and only 37 schools across the nation have ever received this top award.
