The Lee’s Summit R-7 District Board of Education met Jan. 21, 2021 and approved the employment of two administrators, effective July 1, 2021.

Dr. Christiana Barger

Dr. Christiana Barger, currently LSR7’s Assistant Superintendent of Equity and Student Services, will serve as Associate Superintendent of Academic Services. Mr. Bruce Maples, currently LSR7’s Assistant Director of Transportation, will serve as Director of Transportation.

Dr. Barger has previously served in multiple other roles in the district, including communication arts instructor at Lee’s Summit High School, Superintendent intern, LSHS assistant principal and Executive Director of Assessment and Data Analysis. Dr. Barger also served as Director of 7-12 Curriculum & Assessment in the Raymore-Peculiar School District.

Dr. Barger received her bachelor’s degree in English and communication studies from Cornell College, her master’s degree in educational administration from the University of Kansas and her doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from KU.

Dr. Barger succeeds Dr. Jennifer Kephart, who will begin serving as Superintendent of the School District of Washington, near St. Louis, Missouri, on July, 1, 2021.

Bruce Maples

Prior to joining LSR7 in 2019, Mr. Maples served as Director of Transportation for the Fort Osage R-I School District, Bus Coordinator for the Shawnee Mission School District and Supervisor of Discipline, Safety and Training for the Independence School District. Mr. Maples received his associate’s degree in criminal justice from the Metropolitan Community College-Longview campus.

Mr. Keith Henry, LSR7’s current Director of Transportation, will retire on June 30, 2021.
