The Summit Christian Academy Theatre Department will present “The Importance of Being Earnest,” at 7 p.m., April 15-17, on the Summit Christian Academy stage.
"The Importance of Being Earnest perfectly fits our talented, hilarious cast,” shared SCA Theatre Director Mrs. Emily Stam. “The students have so enjoyed embodying these larger-than-life characters, and I think audience members will find themselves grinning, then giggling, then guffawing as they watch this classic comedy of manners."
“The Importance of Being Earnest” is a comedy of manners, sophistication, and frivolity that could only come from the mind of writer, Oscar Wilde. Two dashing bachelors and dear friends, Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff, each created an alter ego in order to escape the humdrum of gentlemanly life and the boring trappings of respectability that go along with it. Enter the Honorable Gwendolen and the fair Cecily, who are determined to marry a man named Ernest. Add to the mix a domineering and society focused matriarch, a missing heir, and a battered handbag, and you have Oscar Wilde’s classic drawing room comedy.
