Lee’s Summit, Waldo locations to honor veterans all day Friday, Nov. 11
Since the day they’ve opened, Neighborhood Café has been a constant source of recognition for local veterans around Lee’s Summit and Kansas City. The rows and rows of displayed veterans’ photos are just a part of that commitment.
This Friday, Nov. 11, Neighborhood Café-Waldo (7531 Wornall Road, Kansas City) and Neighborhood Café-Lee’s Summit (104 SE Third St., Lee’s Summit) will offer an all-day, free breakfast of biscuits and gravy, eggs and coffee to all veterans.
For decades, Neighborhood Café in downtown Lee’s Summit has displayed hundreds of photos of local military veterans on its walls, a tradition that carried on when Neighborhood Café-Waldo opened in 2016. Customers are always encouraged to bring in photos of family members that have served in the military. Neighborhood Café frames and displays these photos at no charge.
Neighborhood Café owner Tony Olson said he hopes all veterans will have a place to have a meal with friends on Veterans Day.
“We serve many veterans every single day and we hope to have some new friends that have served our country come by on Friday,” Olson said. “It’s the very least we can do for the men and women that helped shape our country and fought for our freedom during times of conflict.”
Both locations of Neighborhood Café are open 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 12.
