LIESL: Each week, we'll take a few minutes to give you the news, happenings, and events around Lee's Summit.

NICK:Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation is to open the winter season of Summit Ice on Tuesday, November 3. Summit Ice will offer public skating, pond hockey and learn-to-skate classes. LIESL: Sunrise Rotary Club’s annual Feed Lee’s Summit event is set for Thursday, Nov. 12. As with most events this year, the fundraiser is going virtual with its efforts to support Meals on Wheels, Lee’s Summit Social Services, One Good Meal and Coldwater of Lee’s Summit. Pre-registration for the auction and raffle event is free, but required. Go to FeedLS.org for to register.

NICK:As we move another week closer to that event, the Lee’s Summit Town Hall podcast turns to the third of four local assistance agencies benefited by the event. Last week, Meals on Wheels Board Chair, Susie Newsam joined me for a conversation about the agency and the people it serves. LIESL: The City of Lee’s Summit is inviting the public to participate in a 3D virtual open house, where they can view progress and provide input on the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport’s updated Master Plan and Business Plan. These plans will define the airport’s goals and objectives and establish a strategy to guide airport development for the next 20 years. The virtual open house can be accessed 24/7 at cityofLS.net/openhouse and will remain open indefinitely.

NICK:Every high school athlete sets their goals on State competition. Still in its infancy as an athletics program, St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School athletes from the tennis and golf teams recently competed in the Missouri State High School Activities Association State Tournament.
