For years, Macadoodles has been the leading liquor store in southern Missouri and northern Arkansas and now, with a location opening Lee's Summit, is setting its sights on the Kansas City market.

Macadoodles Fine Wine, Beer & Spirits is set to open at 9 a.m., Friday, Oct. 28 at 1499 SW Market Street in Lee’s Summit. The 12,000-square-foot store will offer the city’s largest selection of wines (more than 4,000 on site), liquor and beers — more than 600 from local craft breweries to regional and international favorites.

Macadoodles co-owners Jakob Nilsson and Chris Meyer relocated to the Kansas City area to open the newest store, which Nilsson said made perfect sense in Lee’s Summit.

“We were looking at the Kansas City metro area and having lived in Lee’s Summit myself, it was just an area that made a lot of sense to us,” Nilsson said. “This is a great community, with the demographics, history and size, really. Lee’s Summit is a Jackson County leader in innovation, drive and forward thinking. Look at the growth here. People want to become a part of this community and we’re no different.”

Macadoodles opened in Pineville, Mo., in 1997 and adopted a customer first approach.

“We listen to the customer first. It’s part of the DNA of every employee,” Nilsson said. “We are not in the business to have a customer come by once and not again.”

Macadoodles will offer Lee’s Summit’s first drive-thru liquor options as well as a range of customer services, including carryout and home delivery. The drive-thru option will be available soon after the Grand Opening. The retailer will also bring more than 20 jobs to the new Lee’s Summit location as well and is now hiring.

“We’re in this community to be a part of this community,” Meyer said.

Macadoodles will also feature a cigar humidor, snacks, charcuterie boards, gourmet foods and party planning options for weddings, birthdays and corporate events. They will also have a cicerone on staff.

“We’ll be a destination, not only for residents of Lee’s Summit but also for the entire metro area,” Nilsson said. “We are here not only for the connoisseurs, but also for our customers who appreciate our great variety, pricing and personal service. Our entire team is very excited to be here.”

The Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting at Macadoodles at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28.
